Cristina Saralegui Cristina Saralegui is a Cuban American journalist that grew up in Key Biscayne, Florida. The pen shell is a brown fan shaped bivalve shell fish first discovered in the Mediterranean in the 1700s. The pen shell is mainly found in coastal areas in waters from 2 to 30 meters and is usually burrowed into the sand covered in turtle grass or other sea flowering plants.
